Last month, we had the absolute pleasure of being part of the Leamington Peace Festival, and what a joy it was.

Over two sunny, feel good days, the festival brought together everything we love about Leamington, a strong sense of community, creativity, kindness, and a shared interest in living more sustainably. There was music, dancing, laughter, and a genuinely uplifting atmosphere, we couldn’t have asked for a better setting.

We were there to spread the word about the Library of Things, and it was incredibly encouraging to hear so many people say, “what a great idea!” Even better, lots of visitors already knew about us and came over specifically to say hello. That growing awareness really means a lot and shows how the community is embracing new ways to share, save money, and reduce waste.

We also brought along a few extras. Our homegrown plants and superfluous screwdrivers proved popular, helping us raise a bit of money to support the library. For our younger visitors, we ran a hands on activity where children could use one of our borrowable screwdrivers to fix a screw into a pre drilled piece of wood. It was a simple way to give them a taste of practical skills, and a reminder that these are exactly the kinds of tools they can borrow from us anytime.

We even managed to send a few people up the road to our Bedford Street base there and then, ready to borrow items straight away, which felt like a real win.

Events like the Peace Festival remind us why we do what we do. The Library of Things is all about bringing people together, making it easier to share resources, and supporting more sustainable ways of living, and this event captured that spirit perfectly.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a chat, bought a plant, or picked up a screwdriver. We loved being part of it, and we’re already looking forward to next time.
