Welcome to the mid-June 2026 news from the Leamington Library of Things.
The last month has seen us add many new items to our inventory, with a
good number more waiting to go on. I try to keep the list of what we
have, but have not yet entered on the inventory, listed on the first
item called ‘Click to see things waiting to go on the inventory…’ and
you are always welcome to ask us for something on that list. This month
has also seen a steady growth in new members and borrowings, all
encouraging.
We now have a group of nearly a dozen volunteers helping to make the
Library function. It was Volunteer Week a couple of weeks ago, and we
surely could not be on track as we are without the time, effort, ideas
and enthusiasm of all of them.
Our Facebook page continues to get a lot of positive attention, new
Followers and lots of Comments and Reactions, so thanks to all of you
for being part of that. One of the most viewed posts was spotted by
local media and led to an interview for Capital Radio in Birmingham.
Then I was on a live BBC CWR show one morning, and two BBC people came
and interviewed a couple of us and a couple of borrowers, which led to
an online article and a video. Anecdotally, quite a lot of people saw or
read the BBC pieces – it’s good to have help to spread the word.
Although word of mouth is still probably the most important channel for
getting known, and used, so please do spread the word among people you know.
The weekend just gone we had a stall, alongside the Leam EcoHub, at
Leamington’s wonderful Peace Festival. We met lots of people who said
they knew about the Library, or had seen us online, or had heard the
/Life in Leam/ podcast, or had seen the TikTok video on /leam.on/. And
we met and had conversations with many new people too.
Just a reminder, our opening hours are Monday morning (10-12), Wednesday
(11am-1pm) and Saturday (2-4pm). And don’t forget our website
